Chloroform AR 2.5L
Chloroform AR (Analytical Reagent) is primarily used as a high-purity solvent in laboratories for extractions, chromatography, and various chemical reactions. It is also used in the industrial production of other chemicals, such as pesticides, dyes, and fluorocarbons, and as a solvent for substances like lacquers, resins, and fats. Laboratory uses
- Solvent: Dissolves a wide range of substances, including alkaloids, fats, oils, and rubber.
- Extraction: Used for extracting compounds in analytical procedures.
- Chromatography: Serves as a solvent in chromatographic analysis.
- Chemical Reactions: Acts as a solvent and chemical agent in many laboratory reactions.
- Preservative: Can be used in low concentrations to prevent bacterial growth in solutions containing organic compounds.
- Tissue Preparation: Historically used in histology for infusing tissue with wax.
Industrial uses
- Pesticide and Dye Production: A key ingredient or solvent in the manufacturing of pesticides and dyes.
- Refrigerant Production: Used to make fluorocarbon refrigerants like Fluorocarbon-22.
- Solvent for Products: Used to dissolve lacquers, floor polishes, resins, and adhesives.
- Film Production: Involved in the film and board industries.
- Cleaning Agent: Functions as a cleansing agent and in dry cleaning to remove spots.
- Fire Extinguishers: Used in some fire extinguishers, for example, to lower the freezing temperature of carbon tetrachloride.
